We used to put a pair of these up outside of our tent at rendezvous to make it easier to find our way home at night. They are a great way to stand out in camp or in the crowd. If you want everyone to know where you are, this is the lantern for you.
This lantern is 24 inches tall and a bit more than 8 inches in diameter. The bottom is socketed to take a 1.25 inch wooden rod from the home stores. The candle base is made for a 3” diameter pillar candle.
The historic basis for this lantern is a 19th century parade lantern in the Winterthur Museum collection, but I took a few liberties on the design.
This lantern is painted a weathered mustard color.
