Cruise our event in style with this historically inspired hand lantern. I have documentation of this sort of lantern going back as far as the 15th century in Europe. Similar lanterns are depicted in 18th century English artwork also. The lens in this lantern is a hand-blown glass rondell made by Blenko Glass. This is not a focusing lens, that came later in the 19th century.
This compact hand lantern is painted a yellow ochre color. The metal under the paint is antiqued so the lantern will develop a nice worn look at it gets some field use.
