A lantern inspired this 18th— to early 19th-century-style round naval lantern in the Smithsonian Museum Collections (item #2002.0160.04). It may have been the type used on the USS Constitution.
The finish is intended to resemble a lantern that has been used and repainted multiple times, with visible brush marks and imperfections.
Each lantern is made by hand, one at a time. There can be significant differences in the appearance of the finish compared to the photos.
