Square tin candle lantern with a round carrying ring and double rows of glass guards.

Square Ship Lantern

Here is the lantern you need for any period after the late 18th century.  This sturdy, attractive lantern will add style to your living history camp or display. It is perfect for those evenings in camp with lantern light filling the canvas.

Each lantern is made one at a time, and there WILL be small differences in finish and construction for each lantern.

  • It is about 18” tall with the carrying ring and 6” square.

  • Built sturdy for field use.

  • Antiqued finish.

  • The thick, weathered glass will take abuse and look great. There will be considerable variation in glass finish from one lantern to the next.

This rugged square lantern has sturdy glass guards and a good, solid door. It is an excellent, sturdy lantern suitable for living history events, lantern tours, or reenactments of ship battles.

Rob is a true craftsman with a love for his trade. He’s professional and responsive. I bought one of his lanterns at Shaker Woods in Ohio 20 or so years ago and am so happy to have rediscovered him after searching online. That original lantern has seen much field use and is still serving to greet guests in my 18th c home. I recently bought two others to match. Rob’s workmanship remains exceptional. Not inexpensive but these are items that can be enjoyed and passed down the line for many years. Highly recommended!
