A mustard colored hand lantern with scalloped to and bulls-eye lens

Hand Lantern with bulls-eye glass

This unique hand lantern is based on several early hand lantern images. The door glass is a bullseye glass rondel. These flat lenses predate the domed police and railroad lanterns that are more commonly found in antique shops.

Each lantern is made one at a time, and there WILL be slight differences in finish and construction for each lantern.

  • Measurements: About 12” tall. The body is about 4” in diameter, 8” wide with a handle. The size varies a little according to the glass rondel size.

  • Finish: Black, red, or antiqued, with a bulls-eye glass rondel in the door.

From detail-oriented research to impeccable craftsmanship, Rob’s work is unsurpassed. His pieces were recommended by a fellow historical interpreter when I asked about lighting that could withstand real-world use while also being incredibly historically accurate, I’m so glad I invested in 4 of his lanterns. They are functionally perfect but also add to my interpretation and the period appropriate ambiance helping visitors feel they are connecting with the past. Thank you for such excellent work!
