Large 17th century styled lantern with red paint and amber panes.

Guardroom Lantern

Here is a large hanging lantern that will be the envy of every camp or exhibit around you. This huge, handmade tin lantern is my interpretation of a lantern depicted in a 1645 painting and is unlike any other hanging lantern I have made.

  • 22 inches tall, including the ring, and 10.5 inches in diameter.

  • Amber or lite-colored lampshade mica panes to simulate horn.

  • Antiqued, black, or red finish.

  • The candle cup inside the lantern is sized for a pillar candle.

This sizable 17th-century style lantern is based on a lantern depicted in "Guardroom with the Deliverance of St. Peter" by David Teniers the Younger, circa 1645.

Each lantern is made one at a time, and there WILL be small differences in finish and construction for each lantern.

I have purchased the weathered naval lantern and guard room lantern. My first purchase was the naval lantern and I was so pleased with a quality and construction that I decided I needed to have more… While these lanterns are very light in weight, they are very sturdy and well constructed. Excellent solder joints. When the huge (!) guard room lantern arrived. I was extremely pleased to see that you have options to burn either one candle at a time or three. I also very much appreciate the accommodation to ship the lantern so it arrived on time for a special event.
