Idea Soup. Part 2.

One of our goals with this trip was to recharge our batteries. I think all creative people go through spells where the juices are just not flowing as well as they had been before.

Covid was a real kick in the teeth for everyone, and it was hard to get motivated to try new techniques or projects. I filled a ton of online orders (Thanks everyone), but did not really stretch or add much new to my variety of lanterns. It was like suspended animation and I still cannot reference much of any time markers from the lockdown period. It was all “during Covid”.

Anyway…..

Day one of our trip and we tamped down the jet lag and headed out to find Gaudi. We got lost a few times trying to follow the damn phone map thingy. And not all indications were good going by the trash cans.

We eventually found our way up to Park Guell and it was beyond anything we had in our heads. I’m just going to post a few images and say that this was a great way to start thinking in a different way. Nothing square. Nothing flat or all the same color. This would slap the jet lag out of anyone.

You might be saying, what does this have to do with lanterns? Well, not much I guess. But it is always good to soak up as many artistic influences that you can. You never know where the experience will come back around and be incorporated into a new project. We have worn many hats over the years, so who knows.

And as a complete surprise…

There is a large colony of green parrots living in the trees along the path into the park. Who knew?
